Cartagena is a Military city steeped in History. Given its strategic position on the coast it has been a remote settlement for different civilisations over thousands of years. They have all left their cultural mark with magnificant remains.
 
Murcia is the capital city of the region.Its base is agricultural,hence its reputation as "The vegitable capital of Eurpe". Its a centre for gastronomy with fine restaurants and Tapas bars. It's many offerings merit a visit.
 
The old city of Lorca offers a journey into the past. The mountinous country has many Castles and fine houses; on the North East route you'll find wonderful small towns such as Mula, Bullas, Cehegin Caravaca and Moratalla.
 
The Silk Route also takes you through the Spa towns of Archena and Fortuna and will show you inland Spain as a change from the beach.
 
The Mar Menor, Cabo de Palos and La Manga offer wonderful eating, specialising in Mediterranean cooking with rice dishes and excellent fresh fish. El Caldero is the most famous dish, invented by the local fishermen, with rice, peppers, garlic and fresh fish from the rocks making a delicious flavour.
