El Mar Menor is a huge internal saltwater sea with cristal waters.its calm and shallow and conects with the Medwith various canals along a 20 Km stretch The lake is very clean and full of fish and minerals, perfect for holidays with children. Closeby isthe Charming fishing village of Cabo de Palos where you'll find a famous old lighthouse with panoramic views of the Med and La Manga.
 

THE BEACHES
On the Med side there are 36Kms of beaches from Cabo de Palos to San Pedro in the north. Going South to Cartagena there are Cliffs and bays including the famous nature reservr of Calblanque.
Mar Menor.
On foot or by bike from El vivero you will pass small fishing communities such as Los Alcathares y San Pedro del Pinatar.

GOLF.
Five minutes by car, you'll find the smart LaManga club famous for its three 18 hole courses, hotels, restaurants etc.

CULTURE
The city of Murcia with its baroque cathedral and the Salcillo museum is worth a trip. The Plaza de Flores surrounded by very good Tapas bars is excellent The historic city of Cartagena has a magnificent natural port, many roman remains and notable 19th century post modernist buildings. The Easter processions are famous in Spain.

GASTRONOMY
The food in the area is excellent. Fresh fish from the Mar Menor is famous as are all the local vegitables.The caldero rice with local fish is a well known Mar Menor spciality. Two minutes beach walk from the house, you'll find a fine retaurant "El Parador"and further on a discoteque "EL Zeta"
